Upcoming tastings in the first quarter

Posted on Thursday, 2 January 2025

Happy new year 2025! As I look out onto the first snow this winter, I already have a few ideas for wine tastings in the coming months.

First snow this winter

January

To start things off with something refreshing, I'm going to try a few Aligotés after having had more reds than whites for a while. I've got three interesting ones lined up from my cellar: 2020 Alice et Olivier De Moor Bourgogne-Aligoté, 2020 Dominique Lafon Bourgogne-Aligoté, which I've tasted before, and 2018 Remoissenet Père et Fils Bourgogne-Aligoté.

February

I'm going to follow this up with a small ten-years-on Bordeaux tasting: 2015 Château d'Aiguilhe, 2015 Château d'Armailhac, and 2015 Château Le Reysse. A flight I'm really looking forward to. Not only has it been a good year in Bordeaux, but I'm also keen on finding out how the wines from these different producers have held up.

March

More Bordeaux it shall be after that with a Château Citran vertical of the vintages 2004, 2013, 2014, possibly 2015, and 2016.

But that will not be all in March, as I also have a Pio Cesare tasting coming up at the Rheingau Gourmet & Wein Festival that month. I'm thrilled about that one already!

Of course, I'll spontaneously try other wines beside the ones mentioned here. As always, I hope you enjoy reading my notes. If you do, tell your wine friends about my small website or get in touch. Thank you.
