Thoroughly enjoying this 2017 St. Laurent by Markus Schuller from Oggau in the Neusiedlersee region, Austria. Having matured in oak barrels, this wine is medium bodied with a nicely balanced acidity to keep it fresh. It is relatively fruit forward on dark cherries and blackcurrant, but offers notes of vanilla and spices hinting at the time spent in barrel.
Happy to have added a few bottles of 2019 Mark Haisma Chassagne-Montrachet to my collection. Can’t wait to open the first bottle soon!
EN: Golden colour, a sublime aroma of honey, and an elegant acidity that makes me think of apricot and dried oranges. This sweet wine is a welcome autumn companion. Still relatively young, it promises more drinking pleasure in the decades to come. DM94.
DE: Goldene Farbe, ein erhabenes Aroma von Honig und eine elegante Säure, die mich an Aprikosen und getrocknete Orangen denken lässt. Dieser süße Wein ist ein willkommener Herbstbegleiter. Noch relativ jung, verspricht er in den kommenden Jahrzehnten noch viel Trinkvergnügen. DM94.
EN: Fruit forward, particularly red cherries and blackberries. There are spicy notes, too. However, at 14.5 the alcohol doesn’t go unnoticed, making the overall presentation a little rough around the edges. Neither complex nor subtle. I doubt giving it more time in the cellar will do much to improve the flavour. Drink between now and 2024. DM85.
DE: Fruchtbetont, vor allem rote Kirschen und Brombeeren. Auch würzige Noten sind zu erkennen. Der Alkoholgehalt von 14,5 % bleibt jedoch nicht unbemerkt und macht die Gesamtpräsentation ein wenig rau. Weder komplex noch subtil. Ich bezweifle, dass eine längere Lagerung im Keller den Geschmack verbessern wird. Trinkbar zwischen jetzt und 2024. DM85.
2020 Cantina Girlan Alto Adige Chardonnay Flora from South Tirol, enjoyed at Mezzopieno in Koenigstein, Germany.
EN: Classic Riesling from the Rheingau with a fine, creamy nose. A scent of sweet fruits has a very animating effect. Then, on the palate, a firm acidity that combines with the fruity notes to citrus and pineapple. In the end, citrus and a slight salty minerality remain. Overall very nice with a great drinking flow. The 2017 is already drinking well, but will easily last a few more years. DM88.
DE: Klassischer Riesling aus dem Rheingau mit einer feinen, cremigen Nase. Ein Duft von süßen Früchten wirkt sehr animierend. Am Gaumen dann eine straffe Säure, die sich mit den fruchtigen Noten zu Zitrus und Ananas verbindet. Im Abgang bleiben Zitrusfrüchte und eine leicht salzige Mineralität. Insgesamt sehr schön mit einem tollen Trinkfluss. Der 2017er trinkt sich bereits gut, wird aber sicher noch ein paar Jahre halten. DM88.
EN: Elegant Riesling from the Leistenberg in Oberhausen on the Nahe, Fair’N Green, 12.0%. Soft and creamy on the nose, pleasant mineral note. On the palate, a fresh acidity of green apples and limes. More fruity, peach on the finish. DM87.
DE: Eleganter Riesling aus dem Leistenberg in Oberhausen an der Nahe, Fair’N Green, 12,0%. In der Nase weich und cremig, angenehme mineralische Note. Am Gaumen eine frische Säure von grünen Äpfeln und Limetten. Eher fruchtig, Pfirsich im Abgang. DM87.
EN: Cuvée from near Cahors in Quercy in the southwest of France. Dark red to violet. Dark cherries and a smoky bacon note on the nose. But also a delicate freshness reminiscent of mint. In the taste more red cherries and berries as well as a finely dosed spiciness. Quite elegant. Typical for Malbec, it goes well with red meat and hearty dishes. DM90.
DE: Cuvée aus der Nähe von Cahors in Quercy im Südwesten Frankreichs. Dunkelrot bis violett. In der Nase dunkle Kirschen und eine rauchige Specknote. Aber auch eine zarte Frische, die an Minze erinnert. Im Geschmack mehr rote Kirschen und Beeren sowie eine fein dosierte Würzigkeit. Ziemlich elegant. Typisch für Malbec, passt er gut zu rotem Fleisch und deftigen Gerichten. DM90.
EN: Dry Gewürztraminer from the Palatinate (Pfalz), organic and vegan, 13.0%. At this point still a young wine, light yellow to transparent colour. Somewhat closed in the nose, with a discreet floral bouquet. On the palate, as expected, little acidity, primarily fruity sweetness of tangerines. Spicier at the end and relatively long lasting. DM84.
DE: Trockener Gewürztraminer aus der Pfalz, biologisch und vegan, 13,0%. Zu diesem Zeitpunkt noch ein junger Wein, hellgelbe bis transparente Farbe. In der Nase etwas verschlossen, mit dezent blumigem Bouquet. Am Gaumen erwartungsgemäß wenig Säure, vor allem fruchtige Süße von Mandarinen. Würziger im Abgang und relativ lang anhaltend. DM84.
EN: This is a bottling exclusively for Mövenpick; 12.0%, a cuvée of Riesling, Pinot Blanc and Müller-Thurgau (Rivaner). The nose is dominated by light fruits, apricot. Fresh acidity on the palate, only slightly astringent. Peach, green apple, a hint of lime. Very “drinkable” without edges and corners. Goes well with fish and light summer dishes. DM85
DE: Dies ist eine Abfüllung exklusiv für Mövenpick; 12,0%, eine Cuvée aus Riesling, Weißburgunder und Müller-Thurgau (Rivaner). Die Nase wird von hellen Früchten, Aprikose dominiert. Am Gaumen frische Säure, nur leicht adstringierend. Pfirsich, grüner Apfel, ein Hauch von Limette. Sehr “trinkbar” ohne Ecken und Kanten. Passt gut zu Fisch und leichten Sommergerichten. DM85
