Pale lemon yellow. Plenty of CO2 in the glass, is that how it was bottled? Restrained, yet fruity bouquet. Pear, quince, slightly citrusy aroma. Some blackcurrant. "Riesling light". The carbonic acid is clearly noticeable on the tongue and unfortunately masks the subtle fruit flavour somewhat. However, the dark cassis flavour is nice and carries the finish. Little complexity overall, for fans of fruity flavours.

3Wines with a DM3 to DM4 rating are average on a fine wine level. They have been produced well, they have no apparent flaws or big imbalances that would put me off. On the other hand, they lack features that would make them stand out in a more positive way, i.e. they might lack intensity or a long finish. / 20 ("passable") |

Baden Baden is Germany's southernmost wine growing region. It stretches about 400 kilometers from north to south along the Rhine. Baden is also Germany's warmest wine region. Much like its French neighbour Alsace, its climate is heavily influenced by its location in between the Vosges and the Black Forest, shielding it from cold winds and heavy rains. Best-known for Burgundian varieties, especially Pinot Noir (Spätburgunder), Pinot Blanc (Weißburgunder) and Pinot Gris (Grauburgunder). More than 15,000 hectares of vineyards. Diverse soils, ranging from loess and volcanic stones in the Kaiserstuhl region to shell-limestone in Tauberfranken. |
