Medium purple colour, not showing much in terms of age. Attractive mix of ripe red and dark fruits on the nose (strawberry, black cherry, black plum). The oak is well-integrated. There's also some eucalyptus and sage showing. Finally, I get a nice floral aroma. Medium- to full-bodied in the mouth. Drying, but soft (not silky), tannins. Quite structured overall. The flavours are dark and dense on the palate: Blackcurrant, blackberry, also herbaceous notes. Good finish with cassis and mint. Nicely balanced between Merlot and Cabernet Franc, the 2014 Montlandrie is good to go now, but it is a dense and structured wine with the potential to age longer.
Drink through 2029.

10Wines with a DM9 to DM12 rating are very good wines, above average even in the world of fine wine. That means these wines have been produced really well. They are pure, balanced, and have no flaw whatsoever. They begin to show complexity. Moreover, these wines have their own character and transport typicity and terroir. / 20 ("very good") |

Vintage: |
2014 Good wines were made all over Bordeaux, albeit with some variation across the appellations. Successful vintage especially for Cabernet Sauvignon on the left bank, notably in Saint-Estèphe and Pauillac. If anything, the wines may have matured better than initially expected. They're classic, structured Bordeaux reds that have been attractive from the start but are only now beginning to shine. Good year for both dry and sweet white wines, too. Possibly the best vintage since 2010, but sometimes overlooked because of the excellent 2015 vintage that followed. Accordingly, prices have remained relatively affordable. |
