2018 Remoissenet Père et Fils Bourgogne-Aligoté

Tasting note

2018 Remoissenet Père et Fils Bourgogne-Aligoté

Clear, deep lemon yellow. Subtly reductive nose with flint notes. Elegant and straightforward. Subdued, the ripe yellow fruit plays a supporting role: lemon, lightly candied, apple, peach, and orange zest. Polished, juicy, weighty palate. Pleasant acidity provides mouth-watering freshness. Long, intense finish with apple, lemon, and a hint of saltiness. A substantial Aligoté that pairs well with food, without great depth. Best consumed now; I presume this had more tension in its youth.

Drink through 2025.

Wine details

Vintage: 2018
Colour:white
Style:still (dry)
Assemblage:no
Grape variety:
Aligoté

White grape variety found predominantly in Burgundy, France, although Aligoté is also grown in other parts of the world, particularly in Eastern Europe. While the global vineyard area planted with Aligoté has been declining, the variety has been growing in popularity lately as a new generation of vignerons in Burgundy is taking the variety more seriously. Typically dry, crisp and fresh in style, and made to be drunk young. Good Aligotés can show considerable length, too. Moreover, with its naturally high acidity, which it contains even until later ripening stages, it is a welcome alternative during times of global warming.

For assemblages, the main grape variety is shown.
