Medium purple colour with very light age variation towards the rim. The bouquet is still lush and fruity, featuring dark berries, predominantly blackcurrant, but also sour cherry and black plum. Good intensity. Eucalyptus as the wine opens up. Cedar and smoke in terms of secondary aromas, not superimposed, however. Solid barrel selection. Finally, there's a first indication of earthiness. Full-bodied on the palate, high in alcohol, high acidity, high but softened tannins. Lots of cassis again on the taste, dark cherry, more strongly now, a little kirsch, and black plum. There's nothing cooked here, the fruit is vital and fresh. This is well-made and still has time ahead of it. Slightly drying finish, albeit a little short, with dark chocolate and cherry. Could be outstanding if it wasn't for the kirsch on the taste. Still, very good, no doubt.
Drink through 2030.
