2021 Weingut Stein Riesling & Gewürztraminer Spätlese

Tasting note

Pale lemon yellow. The bouquet offers rose petals, ripe apricots, peach, and nectarines. Acidity is on the lower end while the sweetness has a fruity profile with a taste of nectarines and ripe oranges but it leans towards sweet candy because it’s not offset by a more prominent acidity. Simple off-dry Spätlese with an aromatic profile for those who like fruity wines without much acidity. For me personally, it lacks complexity.

Drink through 2024.

Ratings

Flawed?no
DM:
4Wines with a DM3 to DM4 rating are average on a fine wine level. They have been produced well, they have no apparent flaws or big imbalances that would put me off. On the other hand, they lack features that would make them stand out in a more positive way, i.e. they might lack intensity or a long finish.
/ 20 ("passable")
Stars:
2Wines with a rating of 2 stars are well-made and of average quality relative to their peer group. Perfectly enjoyable and certainly not disappointing.
