Assemblage of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Sangiovese, Syrah and Petit Verdot. After destemming, alcoholic fermentation and maceration on the skins took place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. Then aged in a combination of French, Hungarian and American oak barrique barrels for about a year and a half. Bottled in July 2021.
Cold and dry winter. There was plenty of rain during spring, which helped replenish the water tables, but the cool temperatures delayed flowering by about two weeks compared to the long-term average. As is well-documented by now, the summer of 2019 was hot in Tuscany like in other parts of Europe, but there were enough showers to reduce the effect of drought, particularly towards the end of July. Although some producers in the hotter regions saw their yields reduced by heat stress, the wines produced in the Chianti and Brunello di Montalcino appellations are generally considered to be of very high quality.
