The grapes mostly come from younger vines in the best terraced vineyards at varying altitudes around Langenlois. The higher parcels, with their stony soils, produce fragrant, long-lived wines. The lower terraces, with a loess layer, impart a different character: the wines ripen earlier and tend to show more expression in their youth. The vines are trained in the Guyot system, with an average yield of about 4,500 litres per hectare.

Kamptal DAC This designation of origin for Kamptal wines has existed since 2008. Initially limited to Grüner Veltliner and Riesling, Chardonnay, Pinot Blanc, and Pinot Gris have been permitted since 2024. The wines must be dry, with minimum alcohol levels defined. Alongside the Kamptal DAC designation — with or without a village and vineyard name — there is also a separate category for more powerful wines (Reserve, at least 13% ABV, where limited botrytis and oak influence are allowed). |
