The 2016 Bordeaux vintage is structurally engineered for exceptional longevity. The climatic sequence yielded small, concentrated berries with exceptional polyphenolic density. Technically, the ageing capability is defined by a rare alignment: substantial, ripe tannins (high IPT) underpinned by marked acidity preserved via cool nocturnal temperatures.
This architecture creates a robust antioxidant framework. Unlike softer years, the 2016s rely on this "classic" tension between fruit, tannin, and acid to ensure a slow, stable maturation trajectory. Consequently, the wines demand significant cellaring to resolve their dense texture, promising evolution over several decades.
