Dark transparent ruby. On the nose, red currant, blackberry, liquorice, plus secondary aromas of vanilla and smoke. Slightly peppery and earthy with more air. The intensity is medium. Full-bodied, high in alcohol, and with pronounced but soft tannins. The acidity is there but could be higher for my taste to provide more structure and finesse. On the palate, cranberry, red cherry, strawberry. Less tangy on the palate than on the smell, tending more towards ripe fruits. A little short on the finish, suggesting this has limited ageing potential.
Drink through 2026.
