The cork was unpromising and the initial aroma musty, yet what poured through the sieve into the glass was unexpectedly lively: Clear amber colour. Deep notes of honey, honeydew melon, dried orange, and Christmas spices mingle with balsamic undertones — inviting and complex. On the palate, the vibrant acidity provides structure. Tropical mango and dark berry (blackcurrant jam) flavours blend with sweet honey. Tangerine, honey, and cassis linger on the long finish. A marvellous, mature sweet wine, still vibrant after two hours in the carafe.
