Pale gold to amber, hazy, unfiltered, and unfined. A notably intense bouquet presents a compelling contrast between nutty nuances and succulent stone fruit (peach), framed by a cool, mineral structure and menthol freshness. This is an immediate invitation to the first sip. A subtle hint of volatile acidity is present, though it interestingly complements rather than detracts from the overall profile. The palate is dry and light-to-medium-bodied with moderate acidity and a certain phenolic grip. Pleasantly fruity with ripe peach, lemon, and mandarin, the wine is succulent and highly drinkable. It concludes with good length, offering orange, honey, and a delicate grapefruit bitterness.
A natural wine on the threshold of the "orange" or "amber" category. Compelling.

Chelva A white grape variety originating from Spain or Portugal. Common synonyms include Mantúa (or Mantúo) in Spain and Diagalves in Portugal. This late-ripening vine is susceptible to Botrytis, Esca, millerandage and coulure (poor fruit set). It typically produces low-alcohol, low-acid white wines of modest quality, often with grassy aromas, and is also cultivated as a table grape. Plantings are now limited to fewer than 5,000 hectares in southern Spain and about 1,000 hectares in Portugal. Though young producers from the natural wine scene begin to pay attention again. |
